What Victorian law asks of you when you move out
Under the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 you must leave the property reasonably clean, compared with its condition in your entry condition report, allowing for fair wear and tear. For agreements signed on or after 29 March 2021, a clause requiring a professional clean, including carpet steam cleaning, only applies if the property was professionally cleaned right before you moved in and you were told in writing when you signed.
Your bond is held by the Residential Tenancies Bond Authority (RTBA) until you and the rental provider agree. A clean that passes inspection is the quickest way to get it back without a dispute. Booking your bond clean
Book us for after the truck has left and before your final inspection, with the property empty and the power and water still on. An empty two-bedroom unit usually takes a team of two four to six hours; a four-bedroom house with carpets is most of a day. End-of-month dates fill first across Melbourne, so book a week or two ahead if you can. We work 7 days, 7am to 7pm.

Stairs, extra landings and a second level of floors and window sills add time. For example, a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home is $520 + GST single storey and $580 + GST double storey.
