What Victorian law asks of you when you move out
Under the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 you must leave the property reasonably clean, compared with its condition in your entry condition report, allowing for fair wear and tear. For agreements signed on or after 29 March 2021, a clause requiring a professional clean, including carpet steam cleaning, only applies if the property was professionally cleaned right before you moved in and you were told in writing when you signed.
Your bond is held by the Residential Tenancies Bond Authority (RTBA) until you and the rental provider agree. A clean that passes inspection is the quickest way to get it back without a dispute. Why does a double storey home cost more?
Stairs, extra landings and a second level of floors and window sills add time. For example, a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home is $520 single storey and $580 double storey.

Is carpet steam cleaning included?
It's an optional extra. Under Victorian law, a lease clause requiring carpet steam cleaning only applies in limited circumstances, so check your lease first. Right now, if you book by 26 October, we'll steam clean one room's carpet free as part of our spring bonus.
